Dr. Amra Sabic-El-Rayess, associate professor of practice at Columbia University, is a Bosnian Muslim and survivor of the Bosnian genocide. As the first Muslim president of Brown University’s Alumni Association, she brings resilience and leadership to her roles.

Her acclaimed novel and memoir, “The Cat I Never Named,” have garnered awards, showcasing her powerful storytelling, her upcoming book, “Three Summers” illuminates the resilience and sisterhood amid the Bosnian genocide. With her advocacy, writing, and academic contributions, Dr. Sabic-El-Rayess continues to inspire and educate on the importance of remembrance and resilience.
